2026 Youth City Tournament Rules
1. This tournament is open to all USBC Youth members who bowl in leagues certified in centers within the jurisdiction of the Central Ohio – USBC.
2. There will be an Open division for team and doubles, that may consist of both boys and girls. There will be a Girls only division for team and doubles. Singles and All Events will be gender specific.
AGES ARE AS OF AUGUST 1ST 2025
U8 (5-7) – 8/1/17 to 7/31/23
U10 (8-9) – 8/1/15 to 7/31/17
U12 (10-11) – 8/1/13 to 7/31/15
U14 (12-13) - 8/1/11 to 7/31/13
U16 (14-15) – 8/1/09 to 7/31/11
U18 (16-17) – 8/01/07 to 7/31/09
The age of the oldest bowler will determine the division. *BUMPER BOWLERS MUST BOWL IN AN OFFICIAL BUMPER LEAGUE.
3. All bowlers must use their (1) highest USBC average from the 2024-25; (2) highest 2025 summer average; (3) highest current league average for at least eight (8) games at time of bowling. A league standing sheet must accompany the entry if there is no book average. The following will be used for bowlers with no applicable average: Bumper (50), U8 (75), U10 (100), U12 (110), U14 (130), U16 (150), and U18 (170). Rule 322b will apply for absentee scores. USBC rules 319d and 319e are waived. Rule 319a(2) will apply (10 pin rule).
4. Handicap will be 90% of 200 in all divisions. Bowlers must compete with the hand that determined their average. Bowlers may not change hands at any time.
5. WALK-ins will be permitted if lanes are available. Must be present at least 30 minutes prior to the squad time.
6. Three games will be bowled in each event - except BUMPERS ONLY BOWL 2 GAMES. Bowlers may participate more than once as long as they change at least two bowlers on the team and one bowler in the doubles. They will bowl in the order listed on the entry. Singles is limited to ONE (1) event. Bowlers will bowl Doubles and Singles back-to-back, unless bowlers have already participated in the Singles event. To be eligible for scholarship prizes in the All Events, a bowler must participate in the teams, doubles, and singles – with the HIGHEST score in each event to determine the winner. There is NO additional fee for All Events.
7. The entry fee will be $20 per bowler per event ($11 lineage and expenses, $9 prize fund). Bumper fee is $15 per bowler per event ($8 lineage and expenses, $7 prize fund).
8. There will be no practice on tournament lanes the scheduled day of competition.
9. SMART scholarship money will be awarded for the high HANDICAP and ACTUAL scores in Team, Doubles, and Singles in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 divisions by the CO-USBC. All Events winners (must bowl in ALL three (3) events) in all divisions will be awarded SMART money for each division. In case of a tie, co-champions will be declared.
10. Bowlers will compete at the time requested unless otherwise notified.
11. NO smoking or vaping will be permitted by any participant or spectator. NO electronic devices permitted. The use of alcohol is prohibited during youth competitions.
12. Appropriate bowling attire is required. Participants are expected to be neat and clean. Jeans, pants, capris, skirts, skorts, walking shorts (index finder minimum length) are permitted. Pants and jeans must be in good condition, free from holes, worn at waist level and may not drag on the floor. Hats are NOT permitted. The CO–USBC President, Tournament Manager, or Youth Committee Chairperson(s) will have the final say.
13. The USBC playing rules will cover all other situations.
